I promise I’ll stop with the alliteration soon!
On the hot bank holiday weekend we took the rig up to Hawes Camping and Motorhome Club for a trial run before our two week stint in France. We spent (well I say we, I mean my husband) a long time getting things ready in preparation. He’s rigged up some genius contraptions.
In the back we’ve mounted a camera so we can see the girls from the cab as we drive. He is also in the process of rigging up a tv for them to watch Fireman Sam and Frozen etc on the long drive down to France. He’s even going to make it controllable from the cab. Clever daddy!
Anyway, Hawes was lovely. The village is about a ten minute walk from the site. No visit to Hawes is complete without a trip to the Wensleydale Cheese Factory. Then it was lunch at one of the many cafes and pubs in the village. We chose the Crown as you get 10% off with the Caravan and Motorhome club card. However it was pretty disappointing and over priced. Incidentally you also get 10% off at the cheese factory with the same card.
On the way back to the site we stopped at the village play area which is absolutely jam packed with things to play on for children of all ages.
The site itself is really very nice. The facilities were excellent and it seemed really well maintained. The only thing was there is no play area for the kids but the one in Hawes more than made up for that.
I have been searching for toys that are lightweight to take to amuse the kids and I found this inflatable cactus hoop toss game in John Lewis. It’s great, lightweight and keeps the kids entertained outside so we can do some jobs.
A great weekend with some lovely scenery and good food. We’re ready and raring to go to France now.
